Welcome to SRP Wales A branch of The Society of Recorder Players

The inaugural meeting of this new branch was in March 2007, when Ann Lyall's conducting launched us on our way with a highly successful playday. We aim to provide opportunities in Wales for playing recorders in a friendly group, with good conductors, far away from the beaten track of recorder courses. Our 'catchment' area covers many square miles, with members travelling some distance to any venue. Not that people complain about the travelling, but rather enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way and the warm welcome when they arrive! Because we cater for a large rural area, it is more practical for us to have six meetings a year, rather than the usual monthly afternoon meetings that other branches are able to enjoy. We are lucky to have two members who teach music and who will share the conducting on occasions when we don't have a visiting conductor. They are Chris Thomas, the branch's Director of Music, and Delyth Holland, who has vast experience conducting recorder groups and choirs. So that's a very brief look at us. You are very welcome to join us - details elsewhere on these pages. Why not make your next Welsh holiday coincide with an SRP Wales playing day?
